Common FAQs

1. What types of patches can we heat press in-store?

We typically press embroidered patches, PVC, leather, 3D puff, Woven, and Flexstyle patches — all pre-backed with heat-activated adhesive and tested for use on our products.

2. Can we press patches on any item?

Not all items are pressable. Most cotton-based shirts, canvas shoes, and select hoodies are safe. Items with waterproof coatings, seams, or synthetic materials may not be suitable. Always check the product guide.

3. Do different patches require different heat settings?

Yes. Each patch type may have its own time, temperature, and pressure requirements. Always refer to the guidelines/specifications.

4. Can patches fall off after pressing?

Not if applied correctly. Following the correct press time, temp, and pressure ensures a strong, lasting bond. Second presses are often required for durability.

5. Do we use a pre-press before applying patches?

Yes. A 2–3 second pre-press helps remove moisture and wrinkles for a smoother bond.

6. Why do we sometimes do a second press?

A second press ensures full adhesion, especially around patch edges or thicker materials. This is crucial for durability.

7. Can I reposition a patch after pressing?

Once pressed, patches are permanent. Always double-check placement before applying heat.

8. What should I do if a customer wants a custom patch placement?

Confirm visually with the customer before pressing.

9. Is it okay to press over seams or zippers?

No. Avoid seams, zippers, and uneven surfaces. They prevent even pressure and can damage both the patch and product.

10. How do I know if the patch was applied correctly?

Look for clean edges, no lifting, and an even press. If unsure, gently test an edge or give it a second press.
